Description

NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation's voice on mental illness, a national organization including NAMI organizations in every state and in over 1100 local communities across the country who join together to meet the NAMI mission through advocacy, research, support, and education.

We currently have an opening for a Program Coordinator for our Peer-to-Peer Program. Peer-to-Peer is a unique, experiential learning program for people with any serious mental illness who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery.

*The position is grant-funded.

Essential Functions:

* Work with Peer-to-Peer Director to develop outreach manuals, fact sheets and other materials as assigned

* Assist director with developing Peer-to-Peer reports, proposals, project timelines and assessments

* Develop content and maintain Peer-to-Peer section of the NAMI public web site

* Provide technical assistance to NAMI leaders in the field

* Provide ongoing monitoring/reporting of outreach activities in the field

* Collect quarterly data of all program activity in States with Peer-to-Peer

* Work with the Peer-to-Peer Director to develop and implement assigned initiatives

* Assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with NAMI leaders, consumers and family members related to projects of the Education Team

* Coordinate arrangements and provide logistical support for trainings connected with consumer education and support programs

* Create and monitor a data reporting system for P2P

* Manage and update P2P Intranet

* Manage and monitor the P2P class listing system

* Assist with any P2P research activities (dissemination and record keeping) in collaboration with the University of Maryland

* Maintain a calendar of consumer education and support events.

* Other duties and special projects assigned by supervisor


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong competency using Microsoft programs.
The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of organization
The ability to be simultaneously assertive and diplomatic
Internet skills are required: the ability to communicate via email is vital
Spreadsheet and database management

Desired Qualifications:

Fluency in Spanish
Experience with mental illness or experience working with people with mental illness.
Has a high opinion of mutual support and peer education, and will bring to this position a desire to inspire and engage others in this endeavor

Education:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
